In the summer of my junior year at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, I took a job breeding flies in the entomology department. Why? Well, it was the only job I could get that paid a decent wage. And although I didn’t hate it, I never imagined the experience would lead anywhere interesting, such as writing a novel. But it did.
Here are some photos that I used in recreating the world I lived in so long ago, as a college student who wasn’t sure who she wanted to be…but had a burning desire to create something important no matter what.
